Description

Unbelievable scope Jennifer Creek's scholarly contribution to occupational therapy was often concerned with the relationship between theory and practice, something that has fascinated me as a practitioner, educator and researcher. She suggested that occupational therapists needed to explain their work well, practise effectively, focus on occupation and shape their practice and theories in dialogue (Creek 1998, Nixon and Creek 2006). The texts New Perspectives (Creek 1998) and Contemporary Issues (Creek and Lawson-Porter 2007) offered critical appraisal of occupation-focused practice. Her work as a whole is a resource to sustain efforts to understand practice, despite the apparent limitations of theory.
